Back in July 2022, I spent a wonderful (and unfortunately hellishly hot) day in Fota House down in Cork. I was filming for an episode of the second series of the historical documentary series Scéalta Grá na hÉireann for TG4. The crew and cast were all lovely, I got to prance around the flower beds in pretty costumes. A good time was had by all.
And then, as is the way in this industry, I moved on to the next project and kind of forgot about it.
So it was an absolute delight in late August of this year to get an email from Scéalta Grá na hÉireann’s amazing producer Derek Nagel announcing that series two would begin airing in September, and that to celebrate the launch they were holding a special screening of episode one in the Montonette Hotel cinema!
As an actor, you get so used to things falling through that you never really believe a project is actually happening until you actually see it happening. So it was an absolute delight to get to see our work up on the big screen. It’s a real thing. It exists!
And, it’s genuinely a really good show!
